In line with Government advice and that of England Athletics, Cotswold Allrunners has had to take the difficult decision to suspend all club activities until further notice. England Athletics is currently saying this will likely be at least until the end of April. Although public gatherings have not been definitively banned, as the advice is to “avoid all unnecessary social contact”, our runs and socials fall into this category. This is EA’s statement in an email: “England Athletics advises that all face-to-face activity such as club training sessions, events, competitions, club committee and face-to-face meetings, athlete camps, running groups and social events should be suspended until at least the end of April”England Athletics encourages people to “maintain their own personal fitness and keep active during this time, while following government guidelines about safe distance and safe exercise environments”. According to Public Health England, this means not spending more than 15 minutes with and within a 2-metre talking distance of anyone, whether you are ill or not. It is difficult to know just how realistic this is, but it does mean that the Club also cannot be seen to be arranging informal runs with its members. However, if as an individual you wish to meet up with others to run, then obviously you can do so. If you want to suggest a run to others on the FB page, please make it clear that this is your own run. Please see the link below to the previously proposed intervals and Sunday run schedules. PLEASE NOTE THAT THESE ARE CANCELLED. However, we would encourage you to fit these in as you are able, individually. As an essential part of Cotswold Allrunners is the social contact and encouragment we all give each other, please do continue to post your activities, support and thoughts here.
Thanks, and thoughts and positivity to you all during this difficult time.
