May Hill Massacre

Five Cotswold Allrunners (Nikki, Danny, Trudy, Rachel and Stuart) tackled the May Hill Massacre, in Huntley on Sunday 4 February. We didn’t think it could be as brutal as the name suggested – it was!!! The first two miles were a muddy, steep climb where if the hill didn’t beat you, the mud certainly tried its hardest to! The route was beautiful, taking us up to the very top of Mayhill and through beautiful woodland and paths. At times, the mud was shin deep and of course somebody had to lose a shoe – it was Danny!! This was an extremely challenging 9 mile race with three massive climbs that seemed to go on forever but speeding down the hill for the last mile gave us a great feeling of accomplishment and the well earned and deserved medal was waiting for us the finish. Although brutal, this race was extremely enjoyable and I think a few will be back again next year.
